Description
The Post Audio ARF-50 is designed to shield drum microphones both from bleed from the other drums and to attenuate the sound of the cymbals getting into the drum mics. In addition, it protects the microphone itself from getting wacked by the drummer’s sticks.
It is small enough so that it will not get in the drummer’s way and it’s durable enough to sustain repeated hits from aggressive drummers. Because of the compact size, the ARF-50 can be used both in recording situations and on live gigs.
Unlike the similar products, the outer shell is all aluminum, not plastic, and fits snugly on a standard microphone boom stand using the mic clip to hold it in place. The inside is coated with high density open cell foam to reduce internal reflections.
Another advantage of the aluminum construction over molded plastic is that those holes in the aluminum shell act as a diffusion plate so that the reflections of the cymbals and other drums don’t bounce right back into the mics and cause phasing or other acoustic problems.
